Former Premonstratian St. Elisabeth and St. Norbert hospital (Premonstrátský špitál Sv. Alžbety a Sv. Norberta) belonging to the Strahov Premonstratensian Monastery, known also as Questenberg palace, is early-Baroque building with distinctive church-like appearance.
The hospitalof St. Elisabeth and St. Norbert, located in the west part of Pohorelec, was founded in 1623 by Strahov abbot Kaspar of Questenberk. This original older building was demolished during construction of Baroque fortification of Prague. The new hospital building, substituting the demolished one, was built by abbot Vincenc Makarius Frank in 1665-1668 (architect Johann George Gottwieck). This early-Baroque building with high church-imitating gable is richly decorated by sculptures created by J. Bauer in 1726. Inside runs a long corridor with cells for the poor and ill on the both sides. Above the entrance You can find a memorial plaque with a latin inscription from the original hospital. Nowadays, after reconstruction, building houses Hotel Questenberk.
