Established around 1840-50, this cemetery is located just across the old "Hempstead Cemetery" in Hempstead, Texas. It contains about 115 graves.

"From the Waller County Cemetery Book published in 1977:
In 1856, Dr. Richard R. Peebles and the widow that he married owned the land of the town site of Hempstead. Peebles and James W. McDade entered into an agreement with the Southern Pacific Railroad to lay out the town of Hempstead. They platted the town site and allotted the land for the large Hempstead Cemetery as a White burial ground.
The Texas Town Let Company owned the land that the Hebrew Cemetery is now on. The Hebrew Cemetery has been is use from the early 1840's or 1850's. There is no actual record now of how the land for the Hebrew Cemetery was acquired.
The oldest grave marker extant is from the early 1870's. On August 16, 1966, Mr. L. D. Gale gave $15,000 to the City of Hempstead. This money was collected from as many descendants of the old families and others buried in the Hebrew Cemetery as could be found. This money was put up and the interest accruing, to be used for the upkeep of the cemetery by the city of Hempstead."
