This is a beautiful cenotaph in an equally beautiful setting, surrounded by a wrought iron fence at the end of a walkway flanked by the flags of Canada and the Provinces and Territories. Behind the cenotaph is the Memorial wall, created primarily as a Second World War Memorial.

The cenotaph itself is a tall granite pillar with a torch atop and eleven individual plaques, one each for World War I, World War II and the Korean conflict with eight more containing the names of the dead from these three wars. It stands atop a two tiered concrete base surrounded by brick pavers and concrete.

The World War I plaque reads as follows:

VERNON
WAR MEMORIAL
DEDICATED IN MEMORY
OF THOSE WHO DIED
FOR THE EMPIRE IN THE
GREAT WAR
MCMXIV ANNO DOMINI MCMXVIII

We honor all these brave Canadian soldiers.
