The Salvation Army commemorative plaque is located on SW Sixth Avenue near W. Burnside. On this site The Salvation Army COMMENCED its work on October 3, 1886. Captain Mary Stillwell led the FIRST Salvation Army open-air worship service at the corner of SW Fifth Street and W. Burnside.
