Le terrain est concédé pour la première fois le 12 novembre 1779 à Nicolas Guindon. Quatre jours plus tard, il s'en départit et le lot devient la propriété de Joseph Debien. Ce dernier l'occupe jusqu'à sa mort vingt ans plus tard. Le docteur Jacques Labrie en fait alors l'acquisition. Entre 1809 et 1815, il fait aménager une imposante demeure en pierre de deux étages. Au décès de Labrie en 1831, son gendre Jean-Olivier Chénier reprend sa pratique de médecin à Saint-Eustache. Le marchand et député du parti patriote achète la maison en 1833 et y établit son magasin. Celui-ci est détruit par les troupes britanniques durant la bataille du 14 décembre 1837.
En 1882, le marchand Joseph-Albert Paquin fait l'acquisition du bâtiment, reconstruit vers 1840. Un incendie ravage partiellement la maison en 1889. Profitant des travaux de reconstruction, Paquin procède à l'ajout de la tour centrale et du magasin. Le commerce des Paquin ferme finalement ses portes en 1990. La famille Paquin habite toujours la maison.
La maison et le magasin Joseph-Albert Paquin sont constitués d'un amalgame de deux styles architecturaux. L'arrière du bâtiment appartient au style vernaculaire, une architecture locale qui dépend du savoir-faire des artisans présents dans la région. Le parement en pierre de taille à l'avant de la maison et du magasin ainsi que la toiture mansardée en ardoise correspondent davantage à l'architecture Second Empire. Apparu en France sous le règne de Napoléon III (1852-1870), ce style est l'œuvre du baron Haussmann, auquel on doit le réaménagement de Paris durant la deuxième moitié du XIXe siècle. Les bâtiments qui appartiennent à ce courant présentent généralement un aspect grandiose et comportent souvent un toit mansardé.
Au Canada, l'architecture Second Empire devient le style dominant au cours des années 1870. Les architectes canadiens y apportent cependant quelques variantes: parmi celles-ci, l'ajout d'une tour centrale, comme celle de la maison Paquin, qui attire le regard sur d'autres éléments décoratifs.
La famille Paquin y a tenu un commerce dans la partie magasin pendant plus de 100 ans et habite toujours la maison.

The land is granted for the first time November 12, 1779 to Nicolas Guindon. Four days later, he departed in and lot becomes the property of Joseph Debien. Labrie's death in 1831, his son Jean-Olivier Chénier resumed his medical practice in Saint-Eustache. The merchant and a member of the patriotic party bought the house in 1833 and established his shop. It was destroyed by British troops during the Battle of December 14, 1837.
In 1882, Joseph-Albert Paquin dealer acquired the building, rebuilt in 1840. A fire ravaged the house partially in 1889. Taking advantage of the reconstruction, Paquin makes the addition of the central tower and the store. Trade Paquin finally closed in 1990. Paquin family still lives in the house.
Home and Joseph-Albert Paquin store are made of a combination of two architectural styles. The back of the building belongs to the vernacular, a local architecture that depends on the skills of artisans in the region. The stone siding on the front of the house and the shop and the mansard slate roof more in line with the Second Empire architecture. Appeared in France during the reign of Napoleon III (1852-1870), this style is the work of Baron Haussmann, to whom we owe the redevelopment of Paris during the second half of the nineteenth century.
