"This bench mark was used during the First primary levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 63.4050 feet [19.3258 metres] above mean sea level (Liverpool datum). It was included as a side level on the London to Doncaster levelling line. The surveyor's description was No. 296. St. Margaret's Church. Bolt in North-west angle ; 1.86 ft. above surface."

St Margaret is a very fine church indeed, and although it has suffered an internal scouring like the others, its exterior is the best of all churches in the urban area.
