Ruby Amelia Couch was born on 21 December 1901 in Shell Knob. She was education in Viola and Cassville. She then taught school in Shell Knob and Viola. As a young girl she played the organ for a church.
She married Earl ("Bud") Hale in 1927. He passed away in 1991. They had lived in the same home since the mid-1960s that she was living in when she passed away. She had been a member of the Mill Street Church of Christ. She passed away on 30 June 2007, just over 105½ years old.
