The obelisk is the headstone for Sarah Jean Burnett, who passed away on November 4, 1908 at the age of 50. She was born on an unknown date in 1858. Sarah was the wife of William Burnett, who lived from December 15, 1850 to March 13, 1932. Sarah and William were pioneers in the Armstrong-Lansdowne area.

Sarah's obelisk stands about 12 to 14 feet in height and is made of red granite. It has three tiers and stands on a matching concrete plinth. Having stood on this spot for over 100 years, obelisk and plinth are beginning to lean slightly to the east. The prevailing wind is from the west. Could it be possible that...
