Located in the Northeast district of Austin, Texas -- at the corner of 5th and Comal Streets by the Plaza Saltillo complex -- is "Plaza Saltillo", a commuter rail station on the city's Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority ("Capital Metro") MetroRail system's Red Line. The light-rail station adjoins Plaza Saltillo, an urban park inaugurated in 1997 by a visiting delegation from Austin's Sister City of Saltillo, Mexico, for which it was named. Inspired by the popular plazas of Mexican cities and towns, the park includes a series of portals and arcades for sidewalk vendors and a landscaped courtyard often used for local bandstands. The park hosts the Hope Farmers Market every Sunday afternoon, as well as the "Día de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead) parade in late October / early November.
