The house at 5 The Strand known as the "Jefferson House" was built circa 1800. The brick, three-story, six-bay house is in a Federal style. Originally the building was two connected three-bay buildings used as dwellings, hotel and office for shipping supply firm of Bird and Riddle.
The house is well maintained is now apartments.
