The May and Peter Harris Playground was developed in 2002 as part of the ongoing upgrade of Marine Parade, and in 2012 it was extended to cater to the needs of older children as well as youngsters with several new and unique pieces of play equipment.

On Napier's beautiful Marine Parade, the May and Peter Harris Playground is a unique playground in that it caters for not only children, but parents as well. It also features Kompan play equipment which was a first for Napier City Council’s playgrounds.
May and Peter Harris Playground has the following equipment:

Five way swing
Argo
Skate
Blazar- triple seesaw
Climby Shifter- a leaning obstacle for climbing
Enif- moder day jungle gym
Summit- big slide under shade sail
Bloqx Five- attached blocks made as a climbing landscape
Large Exercise Net- big red climbing rope net

The extension work was completed in 2013 and included several new and unique pieces of play equipment, sun shades, park furniture, landscaping, car park extension and fencing.
No matter what the weather conditions, the playground is always well utilized. During the summer months the usage is at its maximum.
There is a parking area alongside the playground and parking available along Marine Parade.
