Wallgraben-Theater is a private theater in the center of Freiburg. It was founded in 1953 by students, the firsst location was a cellar in Wallstrasse, thus the theater name although they have moved into a cellar of a side building of the city hall in 1973.
The repertoire of the theater are mostly own productions, classical plays, modern avant-garde as well as comedies. In between there are guest performances and readings. There are around 300 performances per year.
