Along the riverwalk are several historical information plaques, some benches and tables for picnicking in the shade and a giant checkers game. The checkers game is not far up the trail, beside the first table, quite near the beginning of the trail.

The Riverwalk heads downriver for less than a kilometre, making for an enjoyable and easy walk along the river for about eight city blocks, sixteen or so round trip, ending at Kildonan Avenue. The walk is paved for its length and is partially shaded in the southern half and more open in the northern half. The river continues north for a few more kilometres before emptying into Shuswap Lake, known as the houseboat capital of Canada.

From Cliff street the riverwalk also continues south for another few hundred metres, on the way passing the visitor centre and a small park at the centre.
