The memorial, in the churchyard of St Lawrence’s, was paid for with public donations and unveiled in 1921. It was situated in front of the parish rooms, and was later moved to the churchyard. The upper part of the memorial was originally in the form of a cross.

The following men are named on the memorial (1939-1945) :

Bufton, John Rupert (20). Stoker 2nd Class, P/KX 97480, H.M.S. Glowworm. Royal Navy. Lost when the Glowworm sank off the coast of Norway. She rammed the KMS Hipper, before the Hipper sank her. 08/04/1940. Remembered upon Portsmouth Naval Memorial, England. Panel 42, Column 3. Son of Frank Bufton, and of Ethel Minnie Bufton, of Lickey, Worcestershire.

Blackwell, George. Marine, PLY/X 1654, H.M.S. Neptune. Royal Marines. Lost in the Mediterranean 19/12/1941. Remembered upon Plymouth Naval Memorial, England. Panel 59, Column 2.

Hooper, Arthur Brian Wilfred (29). Captain, 117152, King's Shropshire Light Infantry attd. 2nd Bn., Essex Regiment. Died of wounds 26/10/1944. Buried Bergen-op-Zoom Canadian War Cemetery, Holland. Grave: 6. C. 11. Son of Edgar Wilfred Hooper, and of Lilian Wells Hooper, of Lifton, Devon, England. B.A., LL.B. (Cantab.).

Toeg, Joseph Philip (24). Flying Officer (Pilot), 106158, 98 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Killed on air Operations 24/06/1943. Buried Gouesnou Churchyard, France. Grave 3. Son of Solomon Ezekiel Toeg and Hannah Toeg, of Shanghai. B.A., B.C.L.
