Corpus Christi Parish, McKeesport was established on November 14, 2010 through the merger of the three existing parishes in McKeesport, St. Martin de Porres, St. Mary Czestochowa and St. Pius V. All three parishes had faced dwindling congregations. St. Mary Czestochowa was down to approximately 400 families, St. Pius V down to approximately 500 families and St. Martin de Porres with approximately 1,100 families. All three parishes faced buildings with high costs for insurance, utilities and maintenance. St. Pius V Church was so badly damaged in a February 2010 snowstorm that the building was officially closed in August of 2010. Of the three churches, only St. Mary Czestochowa remained open and was renamed Corpus Christi. After the merger, the parish made renovations to the church, including new heating and air conditioning, expanding the parking lot and making the new facility more handicapped accessible.
