St Andrew's United Church began life in 1833, when the Church of Scotland, the mother church of many local settlers, sent its first minister.
The first church, of wood construction, was built by 1835. It was replaced by the present structure in 1885, due in part by a genours donation from the Nicholls family, church members and note local philanthropists.
The congregation remained under Presbyterian auspices until 1925, when it voted to align with the newly formed United Church of Canada.
In 2000 the congregation voted to become an Affirming Ministry, extending a spiritual hand to all those who may face discrimination.
