The "Memorial Allied Airmen' Oude Willem was established in memory of six Canadian and one British airman who died during World War II near Diever, The Netherlands.

On November 22, 1943 a Halifax plane crashed down from the Royal Canadian Airforce. The plane had taken off from that day Middleton St George in England. The flight consisted of 776 bombers, of which 764 for an attack on Berlin and twelve at Leverkusen. Seven allies were killed when the plane crashed.

The "Memorial Allied Pilots' is a boulder on which a brass plaque attached. The names are placed on the plaque of the seven allied soldiers who are buried here.


The inscription on the monument reads:

ON NOVEMBER 22, 1943 ON THIS SITE IS SHOT DOWN A HALIFAX ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE PLANE. THE PLANE IS AT 19.00 HRS HIT BY A GERMAN FIGHTER.
THE HALIFAX B11.W.23 VR F FOR FREDDY OF 419DE SQUARDRON WAS THAT DAY TO 16,33 HRS OF ATTENTION TO MIDDLETON SAINT GEORGE IN ENGLAND.
FLIGHT WAS OUT OF WHICH 764 776 BOMBERS TO AN ATTACK ON BERLIN AND 12 IN LEVERKUSEN.
