This plaque is dedicated to Wright’s Brigade, commanded by Brig. Gen. Brig. Gen. Marcus J. Wright in recognition of their service during the Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. The plaque describes the action on Sept. 20, 1863 at 6:00 pm. This is one of three plaques to Wright’s Brigade on the battlefield.

To reach this monument:
From the parking area on Reed’s Bridge Road, follow the path south to the marker. Pass the table for Strahl's Brigade (CSA). The path will fork, continue straight (south) along the same path. This path will dead end in to a path running east – west. Alexander’s Bridge and Battleline Roads will be to the west.

Text on the plaque reads:
Wright’s Brigade.
Cheatham’s Division, Polk’s Corps.
Brig. Gen. Marcus J. Wright.
Sept. 20, 1863, 6 P.M.

8th Tennessee, Col. John H. Anderson.
16th Tennessee, Col. D. M. Donnell.
28th Tennessee, Col. Sidney S. Stanton.
38th Tennessee, Murray’s
(Tenn.) Battalion. Col. John C. Carter.
51st and 52nd Tennessee, Lieut. Col. John G. Hall.
Carnes’ (Tennessee) Battery, Capt. Wm. W. Carnes.

On Sunday, Sept. 20th until 2 P.M. the brigade remained with its division in reserve more than a mile southeast of this ground. About 2 o’clock it was moved with the division to the extreme right and about 4 o’clock formed on the right of Maney’s brigade in support of Jackson’s brigade then actively engaged. Near sunset it was moved with the general advance of the right wing passing over this ground to the Union breastworks, which were being abandoned.

Note
Trailhead Graphics, Inc. has produced a map of the Chickamauga Battlefield showing the locations of all of the monuments and the markers on the battlefield. Each location on the map has a number associated with it that cross-references to an index on the back of the map that has the name of the marker (called the Chick-Chatt NMP monument numbering system). This number corresponds to the structure Number listed on the NPS List of Classified Structures that is normally prefixed with the letters MT for the Chickamauga Battlefield.
