This 2014 sculpture entitled "Absent Core" by Gudrun Nielsen Frbs is comprised of two wooden strips that resemble boardwalks that meet each other at a 90 degree angle. One of the "boardwalks" has a one-step rise. Th other "boardwalk" features metal poles that rise about 7 feet high and have purple fabric hanging down about 4 feet in five separate pieces. Although this piece is purportedly a permanently placed work...it is difficult to imagine that it will survive an Icelandic winter in good shape. perhaps taht transformation is intended by the artist.
