This anchor draws attention to the memory of the Bell P. Cross which sank near here in 1903. The Cross was a steam barge which was transporting timber when it encountered a blinding spring snowstorm and ran aground at the mouth of the Gooseberry River. The anchor is all that remains and is located in the picnic area of Gooseberry Falls State Park.
