The first volunteer fire company in the Borough of Port Vue was organized on July 18, 1908, with 26 charter members.

The first equipment consisted of a hand drawn hose reel, built in 1886 for the Sharpsburg Fire Company and purchased by Port Vue Borough in 1908 financed by a $200.00 bank loan. Now used only for parades, it was used to fight the $3,000,000 fire at the McKeesport Tin Plate Company on June 6th, 1921.

VHC#1 currently have over 50 active volunteer members who routinely answer calls for assistance in the Borough and surrounding communities.
