Small campground in the middle of nowhere in National Park Dwingelderveld, Lhee, The Netherlands.
Shady corners and sunny spots on a small hill. On clear nights a sky full of stars. Accessible via a dirt road through the pine forest.
Beautiful spot to camp away from the crowds.
Lhee , in the oldest known source from 1181 ' Lede ' , takes its name probably ' leitha "meaning watercourse. This hit on a now vanished arm Dwingelder Stream. By too intensive use of the land came to be exposed and this arose shifting sands . Who also threatened the villages and the fields. It was only in 1905 by the National Forest begun curbing that danger by constructing forest. The old dunes are still recognizable in the hilly campsite.
