This map is produced by the borough of Islington and takes the form of a black post set in to the footpath. The map takes up the middle half of the post. Beneath the map, in the lower quarter, is the name Islington whilst in the upper quarter is the name of the area and arrows pointing to some local points.
The map is of the head-up variety with the top of the map being the view ahead and the bottom of the map being the view behind. The background of the map is white with generally pastel shades used to display the information. The view is a 3D representation of the area.
The "you are here" is close to the centre of the map and a red broken line is shown at a six minute radius around the YAH point.
Names of local streets are shown as are transport connections for the tube, buses and trains. Important buildings and those of interest have their name in a yellow box with a line leading to the building.
Also shown on the map are two scale bars. One shows the distance covered by a six minute walk and the other shows the scale in metres. There is also a "north" arrow that indicates the direction of north and a legend that indicates:

The Islington Wayfinding Project is a walking initiative aimed at improving the pedestrian environment in Islington. The on-street Wayfinding boards have easy to read maps that encourage people to walk. A total of 51 boards are in place across the borough and a number of pockets maps are available below.
The maps have been specially designed for pedestrians using 3D mapping to make it easy to find local businesses and attractions and so people can enjoy walking around the borough.
