Raised upon an octagonal, concave-faced shaft, elliptical in plan, with a moulded base bearing one of the two inscriptions. This in turn is mounted on an octagonal pedestal bearing the second inscription, with individual letters folded round the corners to indicate the continuity of the wording around the pedestal. Pedestal mounted on a low base of stone on three courses of red bricks. Metal plaque with relief design of christ on the cross flanked by two figures.
Around base of shaft of cross in raised lettering: GRANT THEM O LORD ETERNAL REST. Around pedestal in raised interlaced lettering: IN GLORIOUS MEMORY OF ALL THOSE WHO FROM THIS TOWN GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR ENGLAND AND FOR US 1914 - 1919"
