The canal is 127.25 miles long and flows from the inland woollen town of Leeds to the coastal sea port of Liverpool, crossing the Pennines along the way. Work on the canal started in 1770 and built in a number of sections and was finally completed in 1816.
The PA Bolt is in good condition and near to 3rd arch stone up from the ground level next to the canal towpath.
The mark is a bolt but the OS website indicates it is a cut mark with the following details were obtained from the
OS website
and typing the following coordinates 53,46,10.22,W,2,26,0.59. The listing states that it is a cut mark, but as can be seen from the pictures it’s actually a Cut Mark with PA Bolt.
