In the South Kingstown village of Kingston is the Kingston Congregational Church.

The church is located at the intersection of Upper College Road, which is the road to the main entrance to the University of Rhode Island, and Rhode Island Route 138. It is with other historic buildings that make up historic Kingston.

The church is a white clapboard building with the main entrance facing the intersection. It has two stories windows. The steeple rises above the peaked, shingled roof, starting with the section with a clock, then a tapering white spire, topped with a weathervane.

The Congregational Church here is an old congregation. In 1695, Reverand John Woodward of Dedham, Massachusetts (near Boston), began to preach on Tower Hill (a few miles east of here) as a missionary. In 1702 Judge Sewell of Boston donated an acre of land on Tower Hill for use as a public meeting house. The church was formally organized in 1732. In 1752, the church moved to the village of Little Rest, the present village of Kingston. On January 17, 1821 the present meetinghouse was constructed. The Tower clock was added in 1877. In 1934, the church house was purchased with the aide of the Rhode Island Conference of Congregational-Christian Churches. A new church function hall was dedicated in 1962.

The church is part of the United Church of Christ. It is a full participant in the community it is in. It is an active member of the South Providence Neighborhood Ministries. It provides food and gifts for the Peace Dale Jonnycake Center. They also participate in the Walk for Shelter, and provide a Thanksgiving Dinner for those who have no where else to go.

There are other activities within the church, in a variety of ways.

Sunday service is at 9:30 am.
