It's pouring rain this Saturday, January 10, held in Melleran the inauguration of a sundial that has been difficult to prove the efficiency! This dial was offered to the town by the Rural Foyer which this year celebrates 50 years of existence. The achievement is the work of Bernard Cahier, stonemason and resident of Melleran, who used an old abandoned stone, has shaped and placed in the courtyard of the town hall, after a good forty hours of work, the place where passes the meridian of Greenwich. We read on one side of this stele the following inscription: 0 ° longitude and 46.6 ° latitude. The position has been determined by Claude Guicheteau, member of the National Astronomical Society. The mayor, Joël Aubin, thanked the Rural Foyer Mallet and Marie recalled that the home has a vocation leisure but also culture and sundial is the symbol.

C'est sous une pluie battante que ce samedi 10 janvier a eu lieu à
Melleran, l'inauguration d'un cadran solaire dont il a été difficile de prouver l'efficacité?! Ce cadran a été offert à la mairie par le Foyer rural qui fête cette année ses 50 ans d'existence. La réalisation est l'œuvre de Bernard Cahier, tailleur de pierres et habitant de Melleran, qui a utilisé une vieille stèle abandonnée, l'a façonnée et placée dans la cour de la mairie, après une bonne quarantaine d'heures de travail, à l'endroit même où passe le méridien de Greenwich. On peut lire sur un côté de cette stèle l'inscription suivante?: 0° de longitude et 46,6° de latitude. La position ayant été déterminée par Claude Guicheteau, membre de la Société nationale d'astronomie. Le maire, Joël Aubin, a remercié le Foyer rural et Marie Mallet a rappelé que le foyer a une vocation de loisirs mais aussi de culture, et ce cadran solaire en est le symbole.
