Since 1981, the aquatic center has grown and thrived on the south shore of Lake Nimbus, a forebay to Folsom Dam. It is known as an area for rowing team championships, kayaking, and more.
Equipment is rented at student rates, associates, and public.
Life jackets are mandatory. Summer camps are held to introduce students over 12 years to water sports.
There are hundreds of fibreglass rowing skulls. Folks train individually. A team of eight rows in a 24 foot craft. Western Interollegiate Rowing Association (see WIRA) holds annual events here.
The first women's event was hosted here in 2009. That was the first in 104 years to be held on the West Coast. Classes are junior, collegiate, and masters. PCRC is the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships.
