The American Legion Ellig-Stauffer Post 31 in east Fort Smith AR greets visitors with a touching war memorial and a big gun.
The artillery on static display is a M1A3 with M1 Carriage 57mm carriage gun, which dates from 1943.
A plaque at the gun reads as follows:
