As one passes through Keremeos on Highway 3 they will, hopefully, spy a dozen old tractors along the north side of the Highway. This will be Parson's 107 year old Orchard & Fruit Stand.

Parsons' orchard, on the north side of the highway immediately west of Second Street is a great place for the gearhead to pick up his fruits and veggies, as it has on display about 15 vintage tractors, a 1920s car, a similar vintage gas pump and some vintage farm equipment. I "wasted" at least two or three hours there.
This manure spreader is on display out front with the tractors at the orchard and was manufactured by John Deere, likely in the 1930s, possibly earlier, possibly a bit later (though unlikely). It has a galvanized steel box, so it is newer than many we've seen, which had all wood boxes. This one is actually in pretty good condition yet, though the feed chain is stretched quite a bit and hangs pretty low.
This one has a seat for the rider/operator, suggesting that it may originally have been horse drawn, though we find that a bit difficult to digest. The drawbar that's mounted on it now is for a tractor, you'll notice. The fact that it's ground driven suggests that this one was made in the mid 1920s, at the latest, as, by that time PTOs were becoming the way to go in terms of powering implements.
