This is a unique place for intercollegiate sculling activies and water safety programs. Students and the public may rent equipment, take lessons.

There are all manner of water craft here: ocean kayaks, hydro bikes with rudders, canoes, paddle boats, and specifically the skulling craft. A single person training scull may weigh 45 pounds. The Eight person ones over 190 pounds. Everyone is expected to use life vests! Vending machines offer snacks and hydration choices. There are three large buildings with sculls stacked to the ceiling. NO pets are welcome here! The geese are a given. Do NOT offer them food. It is illegal and dangerous. Some wet suits are kept in lockers. The site is in cooperation with the Dept of boating and waterways. There are indoor restrooms and two portable floating stations. Major competitive events are held from April through May and again in Oct. Summer safety camps are offered for fee. Register with CSUS Aquatic Center Summer Camp/ 1901 Hazel Avenue/ Gold River CA 95670 Fees range from $20 (one time paddle) ) to $30 (general public fee) $95 student, 105 affiliate, $120 public rowing/sculling. Basic swimming test required plus instructor approval for children under 12 yrs. 50% deposit at time of registration. No personal equipment can be launched here. $10 - 18 day use at the State Park boat launch ramp (18 is for a trailer). Season pass $125. Membership also at the aquatic center.
