It crashed just north of the memorial. Air currents could have contributed as there is an elevation change on the north side.
The memorial is on the State Park site, day use only, at $10 per car; not charge to walk ins or bicyclists.
The memorial is an original design by Tom Bennett of Bennett Sculptures. Glazed bronze on a concrete base.
Deputy Kievernagel, the pilot, was 36 yrs. and served for 17 years.
K. Blout was 29 and served for 7 yrs.
