In South Kingstown, on the main campus of the University of Rhode Island, is the Robert L. Carothers Library and Learning Center.

The library is located on the northwest side of the campus quad. The main entrance is on Upper College Road, which intersections Rhode Island Route 138. We parked at a public lot east of the Fine Arts Building and walked from there. There may be a closer lot to park.

The library is a modern structure with a plaza in front. The front has a dark stone face and glass, with lighter stone to one side. There are engraved quotes visible to the right and left of the main entrance, near the roof. The front entrance has the title, "Robert L. Carothers Library and Learning Commons."

This library is the main library for the University of Rhode Island system. There are two other campuses with a library.

Libraries were started on the university system in 1892. In 1993, the present structure was completed on the main campus. It has shelf space for 1.4 million volumes. In May 2009, the building was dedicated to Robert L. Carothers, former University of Rhode Island President. In 2011-2012, a portion was reconstructed to include a commons area.

I am sure that there is Internet access, but I don't know the access methods and availability.
