There is no sign for this church, but the topographic maps identify it as White Oak Church. An extensive web search turned up little (except the usual thousand "locator" type web sites). It is mentioned in the Barry County MoGenWeb rootsweb page and is shown on the map linked to.

After posting one of the photos on the MO GenWeb page on Facebook and asking for any information, I was given the following information:

  • White Oak Church was established in 1946, and it was originally held in the school building, which had been across the street to the west.
  • Pat and Wilma Wilkins gave the ground for the new building to be built on. Later it would revert back to their estate.
  • The first service in the new building was held on 2 February 1947.
  • The church was welcomed into the Fundamental Methodist Conference in 1947.
  • Propane was installed in 1953.
  • The canopy over the front steps was installed in 1970.
  • The well was put in in 1980.
  • A whole listing of pastors was given, from Rev. Earl Batson in 1947 through Rev. Mark Mohler in 1993.
  • Apparently the church ceased in 1993.
Most of this information was provided by Jerry Couch, son of Rev. Roy Couch, who pastored the church in 1967-69 and 1978-79.

Since there is no church sign to satisfy the usual Visiting requirements for this category, please include a couple of photos from different angles. Tell us how bad the building has deteriorated, or if it has been revived, or whatever.
