Larimer Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1932 as the second volunteer fire company in North Huntingdon Township with the aid of about 20 Larimer residents. After the first few months, members had managed to raise enough money to purchase a 1922 International Fire truck. It was a chemical wagon which had been used by the City of Pittsburgh in the Overbrook area. In 1935, they purchased a Studebaker truck chassis to which the body and chemical tanks of the International were transferred. Then in 1941, it was converted to a pumper truck. In 1940, the company's name was changed to North Huntingdon Township Volunteer Fire Company and Relief Association No. 2. A big step was taken in 1942 as the company purchased land and began erecting a new building. (Excerpted from the firehouse's website_
