This monument is dedicated to Huggin's, Morton's and Huwald's Tennessee Batteries Marker in recognition of their service during the Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. It marks their location on the morning of Sept. 20, 1863.

Short Significance Description:

Monument contributes to nat'l significance of the park under NR Criterion A because it represents the national movement among veterans to commemorate Civil War battlefields. This was the first U.S. national military park.

Short Physical Description

1'6" wide x 1' deep x 3' high, the marker is a rectangular block of smooth-faced Tennessee gray marble inscribed on the front, with a carved pointing finger. Marks the unit's position on September 20, 1863, at 1:00 p.m.
