Camp Adair was an army training facility from 1942 to 1944. At its peak it was home to about 40,000 people. From 1944 to 1946 it was used as a prisoner of war camp. It was demolished after the war.
The plaque reads: "Camp Adair, Site of the cantonment where these divisions trained during WW II, 91st infantry division Powder River Division, 70th infantry division Trailblazer Division, 96th infantry division Deadeye Division, 104th infantry division Timberwolf Division".
