This cut mark is on the bridge support of Barracks Railway Bridge that carries the Colne to Preston railway line over the canal.

The canal is 127.25 miles long and flows from the inland woollen town of Leeds to the coastal sea port of Liverpool, crossing the Pennines along the way. Work on the canal started in 1770 and built in a number of sections and was finally completed in 1816.
Many of the bridges on the canal have cut marks on them, but not all of them, including this one are on the OS website.
This cut mark is on the bridge support next to the canal towpath. It is near to the ground and on the 2nd stone up from the ground and 2nd stone to the right from the edge of the bridge.
The cut mark is in good condition apart from the left hand downward line which has become filled in.
