The clock mechanism is housed in the tower and drives the hands on four identical clock faces. The faces are minted in decorated recesses that are highlighted with gold paint or gold leaf. In the corners of the face the numbers "1", "9", "5" & "3" are displayed indicating the clock date as 1953 but no evidence can be found to confirm this.
The clock face is a circular flat plate made from slate or metal. It was probably coloured black originally but is now grey. The minute marks and hour marks are painted directly on to the face and are gold in colour. Roman numerals are used for the hours. The hands were also probably gold at some point in the past but are now grey in colour. The minute hand has a tail.
The clock was not working when photographed.
