You are here, standing at the sign in the Tongariro Trout Hatchery, while walking along the bush clad River Walk beside the famous trout river, the Tongariro River.

The National Trout Centre is set in native bush beside the Tongariro River. A maze of walking tracks wander through the bush, passing the Museum, Hatchery Shed, Underwater Viewing Chamber and Fishing Pool, and meander along the banks of the famous trout river, the Tongariro River. It is here, beside the beautiful clear blue-green river waters, that you will find a sign telling you that "You Are Here". You may even spot a trout in the river pools nearby. There are other signposts and information panels dotted along the paths at interesting spots.
Access: Car Parking is signposted on SH.1. about 2kms south of Turangi. A paved path leads down the hill to the Trout Centre. Follow the signs along the walkways.
