Turbine on display is a stainless-steel replacement turbine. The turbines that were replaced were of a carbon steel design, which had a service life of about 40 years before requiring replacement due to pitting, and weakening of the metal. This example has a diameter of 17 feet and weighs in at 92 tons.
The stainless steel turbines are projected to last much longer than their predecessors.
