The Memorial Gardens were created to acknowledge the valuable contribution made by volunteers, emergency service works and military service men and women. The Memorial Flame artwork situated at the northern extremity of the Memorial Gardens, has been placed in remembrance of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of their duties.
The inscription reads
"Australian Army
This memorial is dedicated to the men and women of the Australian Army who have served and continue to serve their country both here and overseas.
The memorial pays tribute to these men and women whose sense of loyalty and dedication to duty often in the face of great danger has helped shape our nation."
