The Memorial Gardens were created to acknowledge the valuable contribution made by volunteers, emergency service works and military service men and women. The Memorial Flame artwork situated at the northern extremity of the Memorial Gardens, has been placed in remembrance of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of their duties.
The inscription reads
"Royal Australian Air Force
This memorial pays tribute to all those men and women who have served and are continuing to serve in the Royal Australian Air Force in the interests of our national security and world peace.
This memorial forever commemorates their service and sacrifice."
