This plaque is dedicated to Scribner’s Brigade, commanded by Col. Benj. F. Scribner in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. The plaque describes the action on Sept. 19, 1863 at 2:00 pm. This is one of three plaques to Starkweather’s Brigade on the battlefield.
To reach this monument:
From the parking area on Reed’s Bridge Road, follow the path south to the marker. The tablet will be near and east of east of the table to Strahl's Brigade (CSA).

Baird’s Division was assembled on the lines about 2 o’clock P.M. Scribner’s Brigade being on the right. About 4 o’clock this Brigade with Starkweather’s, was sent forward to the ground of their morning fighting to support Gen. Johnson’s Division then in isolated position much in advance of the general line. Upon reaching the designated position the Brigade recovered many of its killed and wounded of the morning engagement. At dusk both Brigades became involved in the night attack of Cleburne’s Division.
