The three trucks are being stored outside immediately west of the Museum of Mountain Flying along Aviation Way on the eastern edge of the airport. Wearing faded lime green paint, this Walter is likely the middle aged one of the three retired trucks. It looks like a mid '70s vintage unit.
ARFF stands for Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting, which is what these trucks are. Walter trucks of this vintage were produced with Jimmy diesels, 8-71 or 8V92TA, up to 450 HP, coupled to an Allison Automatic tranny. This one has a water cannon over the cab and may or may not have a foam tank, as well as a water tank. Didn't see any controls specific to foam. The water tank would be of about 1,500 gallon capacity. The truck is a four wheel drive, with both axles on large flotation tires.
