The Huntington Library is a complex of a library with some of the earliest printed works, Museums and Botanical Gardens. This termite hotel is located in the greenhouse in order to educate folks about termites and their "caste" systems.
The termites are visible in a cross section of a tree trunk set with a window on one side for viewing. The viewer is requested to re-cover the window with the provided lid to provide darkness to the insects.
