Nejstarší organizace v obci. Založeno v roce 1937. Prvním starostou byl František Hlavicka a prvním nácelníkem Antonín Tesar. V roce 1938 byla zakoupena motorová stríkacka STRATÍLEK DS12 a také byl otevren Hasicský dum. Nejvýznamnejší osobností od poloviny 50-tých let byl pan Josef Vašícek. V ruzných funkcích a to i na úrovni okrsku a okresu pusobil do roku 1985. V roce 1954 se žernovští hasici umístili na 4. míste v krajském kole CSPD v Brne. Za toto snažení byli odmenení automobilovou stríkackou AS16 PRAGA RN. V následujících letech hasici dosahovali dobré výsledky jak v kategorii mužu tak i dorostencu. V 70-tých letech se zacalo formovat družstvo žáku, které odsadilo v roce 1976 na v národním kole CSPD v Plzní II. místo v kategorii dorostencu. Dalším úspešným obdobím byl prelom 80-tých a 90-tých let. Družstvo žernovských mužu zvítezilo v roce 1989 celostátní halové souteži ve štafete 4x100 m v Jablonci nad Nisou. V roce 1988 zvítezil Jirí Dvorák na stejné souteži v souteži jednotlivcu behu na 100m prekážek. V roce 1991 obsadili žernovští 3. místo na národním kole souteže v požárním sportu v Praze a v 1992 4. místo na národním kole v Ceské Trebové.
V soucasné dobe se žernovští zamerují na souteže v požárním útoku. V roce 2009 se umístili na 3. míste ve VCB v požárním útoku a na 20.míste v EXTRALIZE v požárním útoku. Ve sboru pusobí také 10 roku družsto žen. K nejvetvím úspechum patrí 1. místo ve VCB v požárním útoku v roce 2008 a 3. místo v krajském kole souteže v požárním sportu také v roce 2008. V roce 2009 se umístily na 2. míste ve VCB v požárním útoku.
Velkou tradici mají kolektivy mladých hasicu. Nejúspešnejším byl již zmínený rok 1976. V kategorii žáku se umístuji pravidelne v okresních kolech hry PLAMEN na predních místech. V roce 1997 dokonce v jednom roce první místa jak v kategorii mladších tak i starších žáku.
V soucasné dobe má kolektiv žáku 18 clenu a pracují pod vedením Miroslava Hnilicky a Borka Formánka. Do kolektivu MH patrí i deti z Lube. V roce 2009 kolektiv starších žáku zvítezil okresním kole hry PLAMEN a v krajském kole obsadil 5. místo. V kolektivu je také jed dorostenec Jan Matuška, který v roce 2008 zvítezil v okresním kole souteže dorostu.
Duležitým mezníkem v poslední dobe bylo vybudování nového hrište pro požární sport. Toto hrište slouží nejenom k výcviku nejen domácích hasicu, ale i hasicu z okolních sboru. Na hrišti se také porádají souteže Extraligy v požárním útoku.
