Located within the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge is a parking area that contains a couple of kiosks with informative placards as well as a scenic overlook on a boardwalk just off a short trail. This overlook contains three placards that highlight the flora and fauna found here as well as binoculars for visitors to possibly view the variety of birdlife closeup. The variety of birds found within this refuge include the White-face Ibis, Cinnamon Teal, Black-necked Stilts, Bald Eagles, Bullock's Oriole, White Pelicans and Yellow-headed Blackbird.

Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge has the distinction of being the first waterfowl refuge in the United States, being enacted by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1909.
