This station, a U.S Coast and Geodetic Survey standard bench mark disk, is located in New Milford, CT. It is set in the west end of a culvert under the Housatonic Railroad track bed, and is positioned between the track bed and River Road:

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1935 1.4 MI S FROM GAYLORDSVILLE. 1.4 MILES SOUTH ALONG THE NEW YORK, NEW HAVEN AND HARTFORD RAILROAD FROM THE STATION AT GAYLORDSVILLE, LITCHFIELD COUNTY, 50 FEET EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF A ROAD, 40 FEET WEST OF THE WEST RAIL, AT A 30-INCH PIPE CULVERT, IN THE TOP OF THE WEST HEADWALL, 4 FEET NORTH OF THE SOUTH END OF THE HEADWALL, AND 25 FEET LOWER THAN THE RAIL. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED W 15 1935.

The 'road' in the description is River Road. The culvert has a 30-in diameter iron pipe. There is also a power pole approx 75-ft NW from the mark as well. Approaching the mark from River Road is easier and safer than from the railroad bed.

When recovering this mark, please consider logging it on both this site and the Geocaching site. Thank you.
