The "brownstone building" is the Red River County Courthouse, located at 400 N Walnut Street. Construction began in 1884, was completed in 1885, and a restoration took place in 2003. The courthouse is visible at some distance to travelers through town.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1951 (JCT) THIS STATION IS LOCATED IN THE TOWN OF CLARKSVILLE. IT IS A BROWNSTONE BUILDING AND THE TOWER HAS CLOCKS ON ALL 4 SIDES. THE POINT INTERSECTED WAS THE CENTER OF THE CLOCK TOWER.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1956 (JH) THE STATION WAS RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION AS DESCRIBED. DIRECTIONS FOR PROCEEDING TO STATION SITE ARE CORRECT.
